Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie in UK Cinemas September 2025

Since its debut on Netflix in 2021, Gabby's Dollhouse has captured the hearts of preschoolers and their families worldwide. Created by the imaginative duo Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, the show seamlessly blends live-action with vibrant CGI animation, following the titular Gabby as she unboxes a surprise and shrinks down to embark on imaginative adventures with her adorable cat friends – the Gabby Cats – who live inside her magical dollhouse.

The series has become a phenomenon, consistently ranking in Netflix's Top 10 in dozens of countries, inspiring a hugely successful toy line, books, music, and even live events. It’s a testament to its engaging storytelling, positive messages, and catchy tunes that it has resonated so deeply with its young audience.

Now, the cinematic treatment promises to expand Gabby's world even further. The plot of Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie sees Gabby (reprising her role by Laila Lockhart Kraner) heading out on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi (voiced by none other than four-time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan!) to the urban wonderland of "Cat Francisco." This sounds like a purr-fectly delightful setting for new adventures, full of feline-inspired sights and sounds.

However, the journey takes an unexpected turn when Gabby's cherished dollhouse, her most prized possession, falls into the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Vera. This new character, voiced by the wonderfully talented Kristen Wiig, is sure to add a hilarious and perhaps a touch of mischievous energy to the film. With her dollhouse in peril, Gabby must team up with some new animal friends – including a smart and brave monkey girl named Abigail and her butterfly companion, LB (Little Butterfly) – as they embark on an adventure through the real world. Their mission? To reunite the scattered Gabby Cats and retrieve her beloved dollhouse before it's too late.

The transition from a mixed-media preschool series to a full-length animated feature allows for a grander scale of storytelling and animation. Director Ryan Crego, known for his work on Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh and Arlo the Alligator Boy, helms the film, promising the same whimsical charm and engaging visuals that fans adore, but now with the added spectacle of the big screen. The film is produced by Steven Schweickart, who has been involved in several DreamWorks Animation blockbusters, including How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda 4, ensuring a high level of animation quality. Original series creators Jennifer Twomey and Traci Paige Johnson are also on board as executive producers, guaranteeing that the film stays true to the spirit and heart of the show.

The success of Gabby's Dollhouse lies not just in its vibrant visuals and catchy songs, but also in its core message of a growth mindset. Each episode encourages flexible thinking, problem-solving, and learning from mistakes – vital lessons delivered in an accessible and entertaining way. The movie is expected to continue this tradition, weaving valuable life lessons into its thrilling narrative.

For dedicated fans of the show, seeing Gabby and her feline friends on the big screen will be an immersive experience. The film also opens the door for a whole new audience to discover the joy and imagination of Gabby's Dollhouse. With the creative team behind the beloved series at the helm and the addition of celebrated vocal talent, Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie is set to be a heartwarming, adventurous, and undoubtedly "cat-tastic" cinematic event this autumn. Get ready to embark on a sprinkle party like never before when Gabby and her friends arrive in UK cinemas from October 17th, 2025!
