Many people have been asking, when is the new Christopher Nolan film coming out?
Well, gather 'round, cinephiles, because Christopher Nolan and his team have announced this glorious first-look poster for The Odyssey, as well as the release date (scroll to the bottom of this article if you just can't wait).
It looks like filmmaker Christopher Nolan is about to do it again. Just when you thought the man had plumbed the depths of time, memory, and the human psyche with Inception's dream heists, Interstellar's cosmic tears, Dunkirk's ticking clocks, Tenet's temporal inversions, and Oppenheimer's atomic anxieties, he's planning on dropping The Odyssey on us.
The IMDb synopsis says, "Follows Odysseus in his perilous journey home after the Trojan War, showcasing his encounters with Polyphemus, the Sirens, Circe, and finishing with his reunion with his wife, Penelope." and we can learn from the cast and crew that the character of Odysseus will be played by none other than Matt Damon.
For years, we've watched Nolan build his cinematic empire, brick by meticulously placed, non-linear brick. He's the architect of the cerebral blockbuster, a director who demands your full attention, a notepad, and possibly a degree in theoretical physics to truly grasp the nuances of his narratives. His films are less watched and more solved. So, the buzz around The Odyssey has been less about "what's it about?" and more about "how many times will I have to see it to understand it?"
Other stars of this new Christopher Nolan film include Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.
Stay tuned for the release of a trailer for The Odyssey and mark your diaries for 17th July 2026, which is when the film will be coming to UK and Ireland cinemas.
