It was an online film festival with all screenings of official selections taking place on our sister VOD platform - UK Film Channel. Ours was a very unique film festival in the UK and internationally, as we not only showcase some of the best talent from across the globe, we also wanted to promote every single filmmaker who submitted their film to our online film festival . The festival is now on hiatus, following a return of in-person film festivals, we felt ours was no longer needed. Four lifelong friends head to a remote lodge for a weekend of fun.What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly descends into a fight for their lives when a local Pagan cult offer them up to their Goddess as a sacrifice for the Solstice. Sacrilege was produced and filmed in the South West of England where Producer Mark Kenna and Writer/ Director David Creed reside. Much of the film was shot in nearby Forest of Dean, as well as Weston-Super-Mare. The film was scheduled for a UK wide release in March 2020 and premiered at Empire Cineworld in Leicester Square to a packed out screening. Unfortunately within days, the Covid-19 pandemic gripped the country and many of the film's screenings were curtailed. "We're thrilled that UK audiences will finally be able to get the chance to watch Sacrilege. We've been blown away by its reception in the US and it's great to see it finally come home after a tumultous eighteen months ", said producer Mark Kenna. Bad Blood Films pushed the limits of the budget by using a drone for the opening credit scene, as well as making use of a robot camera dolly and a five-camera set-up for the Ritual scene, casting 60 local residents as extras. The film plunges us into an afterlife governed by a most intriguing celestial bureaucracy: souls are granted a single week to determine where, and perhaps more importantly, with whom , they wish to spend eternity. At the centre of this metaphysical maelstrom is Joan, portrayed by the ever-brilliant Elizabeth Olsen. The premise itself—a romantic comedy set in the great beyond—suggests a blend of existential whimsy and emotional depth that feels utterly timely. Olsen is faced with a truly tricky proposition. On one side, she is reunited with her late husband, played by Miles Teller, who represents the familiar comfort, the shared history, and the deep, enduring love of a life well-spent.
