A feature-length documentary about migration written and directed by Solon Solomon and starring himself, Minouche Kaftel and Sarah Lockett.
As the title suggests, the topic here is migration, particularly, migration in the United Kingdom. Law professor Solomon, from Greece, decides to investigate the concerns that arise from mass migration, why these worries exist and how goverments are dealing with them. Through archival photographs, animation and many interviews, Solomon's film provides an informative insight regarding the subject of migration and its history.
Exploring migration is an interesting topic and the documentary effectively creates an image that depicts the current situation with migrants in the U.K., emphasizing whether migration creates problems for the country, such as housing overcrowding and analysing why people are apprehensive about migrants arriving in their country. The viewers will learn about all this mainly through interviews with a variety of individuals that include politicians, academics and journalists, some of which are former MP and Minister of State, Dame Margaret Hodge, member of the House of Lords, Lord Lilley, Professor of Psychology and Psychometrics, Konstantinos Petrides and journalist Thanasis Gavos. Additionally, their experience will be accompanied by Solomon's narration and his friendly personality.
The soundtrack consists of some great tracks, one of which is the terrific Cavalleria Rusticana: Intermezzo. And of course there is the titular song Migrating Fears, which is sung by Kelly Erez and owes its music and lyrics to Solomon's creativity.
People who watch this documentary will end up having an informative insight into Britain's past and current migration situation and become familiar with some experts in this subject. If one has a keen interest in this issue, then this feature is well worth their while.
