Fisherman's Friends 2 Has Started to Shoot

Flying Fish and Entertainment Film Distributors announced today that principal photography has commenced in Cornwall on FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS 2. Reuniting the original film’s creative team, Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft co-direct from their screenplay co-written with Piers Ashworth, with the sequel to the UK box-office smash hit FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS based on the heart- warming true story about the sea-shanty singing group.
James Purefoy (Rome, Netflix’s Altered Carbon) reprises his role of Jim, with other returning cast members including Maggie Steed (Elizabeth is Missing), Dave Johns (I, Daniel Blake), Sam Swainsbury (BBC’s Mum), Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials) and David Hayman (Finding Your Feet). New faces in Port Isaac include Richard Harrington (Netflix’s Hinterland) as latest band member Morgan; Ramon Tikaram (Pennyworth), Joshua Maguire (Netflix’s Lovesick) and introducing Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May, in her debut acting role.
FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS 2 continues the journey with the loveable ‘buoy band’, as they navigate the choppy waters of fame, second album syndrome, and performing on the pyramid stage at Glastonbury.
Producing is James Spring (Fisherman’s Friends, Blithe Spirit) with executive producers Meg Leonard (Fisherman’s Friends, Blithe Spirit) and Nick Moorcroft (Blithe Spirit, Finding Your Feet) for Flying Fish; Deepak Sikka; Helene Theodoly; Nigel Green of Entertainment Film Distributors and James Purefoy.
The sequel to the 2019 hit UK comedy charts the next instalment of the Fisherman's Friends uplifting true-story. Following the unexpected success of the band’s debut album “No Hopers, Jokers and Rogues” we re-join them almost a year later, struggling with the pressures, pitfalls and temptations of their newfound fame.
Entertainment Film Distributors will release FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS 2 in cinemas across the UK, with sales company Legacy on board representing the film’s worldwide rights.
